Hello friends and family of Bill Blackley:

After nearly 35 years practicing medicine, Bill has decided to hang up his stethoscope and throw himself into "retirement" -- though some folks think Bill will never retire -- he is certain to remain active in many communities in North Carolina and beyond.

This blog is for old friends and new, co-workers, patients, musicians, artists, Boy Scouts, environmental activists, Tarheel basketball fans, family, and all who would like to share a word of congratulations, thanks, a silly Bill story, or a celebration for his years of contribution to his patients, and his community.

Please join us in raising a virtual toast to Bill!

Shhhhhh.... this is a secret! We'll unveil the blog with your messages to him in mid-June, but posts are welcome indefinitely.

To share a message, funny Bill memory, toast or other thoughts, email your post to me (Molly) at blackley@uw.edu, and I will post for you (please include your name, and how you know Bill).

Thanks for joining in the fun! With love and thanks,
Sandie... Molly, Ben, and Will Jackson...Seth, Brae and Davis Blackley

Next to my immediate family, no one was more excited about my pregnancy than Bill. He kept tabs on my growing belly and kept calculating where his daughter Molly would be in comparison given she was only a few weeks behind me. He would tell with great enthusiasm stories of how great it was to be a parent and had me so excited by the end I truly was ready to burst!! Since my little one has been born he has listened with such enthusiasm to every coo, crawl, climb, walk and talk story I have had to tell. I have seen him beam himself as he tells as a very proud Grandfather of all the milestones his grandchild has made. He has preached to me how to embrace everday I have with my children and just love on them and live in each of the little moments they have.
Bill I hope I can heed all of your advice and at the time of my retirement look back and see a balance of family, career and living life. I love your passion and I love you.
Karen Kinley
