Bill is Retiring (or... refocusing?) !: Penny loafers and a monkey

Hello friends and family of Bill Blackley:

After nearly 35 years practicing medicine, Bill has decided to hang up his stethoscope and throw himself into "retirement" -- though some folks think Bill will never retire -- he is certain to remain active in many communities in North Carolina and beyond.

This blog is for old friends and new, co-workers, patients, musicians, artists, Boy Scouts, environmental activists, Tarheel basketball fans, family, and all who would like to share a word of congratulations, thanks, a silly Bill story, or a celebration for his years of contribution to his patients, and his community.

Penny loafers and a monkey

Bill Blackley is very funny. I remember how he kept taking off my penny loafers when I was three and I chased him all around the house trying to get them back. I also remember him using a monkey puppet as an airplane and he started up the monkey by pulling its tail. He would zoom it all around the deck and then he would land it back down again. Sometimes he would crash-land it. I like him because he's really funny. He often treats me like I am a cousin or something.
